Mulholland signed with the Rowdies on January 24, 2012.

Mulholland, an English forward/midfielder, joined the Rowdies after a successful late season run with the NASL champion Minnesota Stars in 2011. He joined the Stars in September, making his debut in a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay on September 6. Playing as a forward, Mulholland had five shots and assisted the Stars’ only goal as Brian Kallman headed in his corner kick early in the second half. Mulholland also scored the game-winning goal as the Stars knocked Tampa Bay out of the playoffs with a 1-0 victory in the NASL quarterfinals on October 1 at Al Lang Stadium. He netted the game-winner again a few weeks later in a 3-1 Stars victory over Ft. Lauderdale in the first leg of the NASL Championship Series on October 22.

Mulholland moved up to NASL with Minnesota following a very successful rookie season playing for third division club Wilmington Hammerheads. Mulholland led the club with nine goals and was second on the team with five assists. His performances for Wilmington earned him the league’s Rookie of the Year award as well as a nomination for the league's Player of the Year award.

Prior to joining the Hammerheads, the Preston, England, native played four seasons for the Wingate University Bulldogs. Mulholland made 73 appearances for the Bulldogs, scoring 37 career goals and tallying 26 assists. In 2009 Mulholland was named First Team All-American and South Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

2013 Season
Started all five matches in Spring Season... Played 450 minutes...Tied for league-lead in goals (3) and tied for second in assists (2), while leading the NASL with 16 shots.

2012 Season
Played in 26 matches with 25 starts in the regular season and started in 4 post-season games... Six goals, tied for third on the team, and six assists, second on the squad... Played in 2,640 total minutes... Named to 2012 NASL Best XI squad... Scored and had an assist in the second leg of the NASL Semifinals against Carolina (10.13)... Scored in the match and had an assist on the game winner against Edmonton (9.16)... First goal with Rowdies at Ft. Lauderdale (6.2)... Scored game-tying goal vs. San Antonio on a free kick (6.23)... First assist with Rowdies vs. Minnesota (6.30)... Notched game-winner in 89th minute of 1-0 victory at FC Edmonton (7.15)... Goal and two assists in 3-3 draw at Carolina (8.4).
