2012: Brazilian-American forward, Halili Nagine, 19, signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on February 15, 2012, from Auckland City FC of the ASB Premiership. He chose to wear the number 19 jersey for the 2012 season. Nagime made his first appearance for the Strikers as a substitute in the 3-1 defeat to the Minnesota Stars on May 19, replacing Walter Restrepo in the 79th minute of the match. Professional: As an 18 year-old Halili Nagime was on the books with New Zealand side Auckland City FC after progressing from their youth ranks. During his time with the first team, Auckland City FC competed in the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup. The club lost to hosts Kashiwa Reysol in Japan. Youth: In Brazil, Nagime played with his hometown club, Democrata. Personal: Halili Nagime was born in Massachusetts to Brazilian parents. His family moved back to Brazil when Halili was a child, and relocated to New Zealand when he was 15. |
