Harmse, a former MLS player, was the first player signed by the San Antonio Scorpions. He was instrumental in the U20 CMNT 2003 Youth World Cup that lost in the Quarterfinals to Spain. He also played for the U-23 CMNT but did not qualify for 2004 Olympics. Harmse has been capped by the Senior Canadian National Team 9 times and was part of the 2007 Gold Cup and 2010 World Cup Qualifyers. He began his career at Tromso IL of the Norwegian Tippeligaen in 2003. In 2004, he joined the Vancouver Whitecaps, establishing himself as a defensive cornerstone (40). He signed with Nitra in the Slovakian Corgon Liga in 2006 (20). And, in 2007 Harmse signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer where he featured in 26+ games. He also played with Toronto FC (37) Joined Chivas USA and Houston Dynamo but never featured due to injury. Spent 3 months with the 2011 Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS (3).
