2012: Following a successful preseason, local product Aly Alberto Hassan signed with his hometown club, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, on March 19, 2012. He selected the number 15 jersey, last worn by Scott Gordon, now of Major League Soccer's Chivas USA.

On April 7th, Hassan made his professional debut with the Strikers, starting the first match of the season against FC Edmonton. Hassan's debut was one to forget, as the forward was shown a red card by referee Ted Unkel just 40 minutes into the match.

In Hassan's next home match, he scored his first professional goals, a hat-trick in the 3-2 victory against the Puerto Rico Islanders on April 25. Hassan scored his second hat-trick of the season in the 7-2 victory against Fresno Fuego  in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup on May 22.

Professional: In 2011 Hassan spent preseason trialing with famous Hungarian side Ferencvaros as well as with Astra Ploiesti in the top division of Romania. Hassan also spent preseason with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2011, but was not offered a professional contract. After the Strikers signed Hassan for the 2012 season, Head Coach Daryl Shore admitted that “one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made was letting him go [last season].”

Amateur: In 2009 and 2011, Hassan suited up for the Central Florida Kraze of the USL Premier Development League. The amatuer side, based in Metropolitian Orlando, is now called Orlando City U-23.

College: Hassan played four years of college soccer at Nova Southeastern University. He is fifth among all-time goalscorers at the university, having scored a total of 36 goals for the Sharks.

As a freshman in 2007, Hassan scored 11 goals and contributed five assists in 18 games. He was an at-large first team selection of the 2007 All-Sunshine State Conference Men’s Soccer Team. Won All-Sunshine State Conference First-Team honors his senior year as well.

Youth: Hassan is a product of Schulz Academy. The academy, based in South Florida, has produced several professional players, notably AZ and United States’ national team forward, Jozy Altidore.

Hassan also played with local youth side Weston Fury. He and several teammates spent time training in Argentina at one of the country’s elite facilities.

International: Hassan has represented the United States at the U-20 level. In August 2008, he earned his first cap with the United States U-20 National Team in a friendly against Guatemala.

Personal: Weston resident Hassan has family from both Colombia and Egypt.
