2013: King returns to the Strikers for a second season following a promising rookie season in 2012.

 2012: The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced the signing of former FAU forward Darnell King, along with Lionel Brown and Hosman Ramos, on March 27, 2012. King, 21, put pen to paper on his first professional contract that will tie him to the club for the foreseeable future. He selected the number 21 jersey—the same number he wore at FAU—for the 2012 season.

 King made his professional debut on April 7th, replacing Polo Morales in the 75th minute of the first game of the 2012 season against FC Edmonton. King made his full debut the following match against Minnesota Stars FC, starting and playing 83 minutes before being replaced by Mark Anderson.

 Despite playing as a forward during college, King demonstrated his versatility by starting several games as a right defender as well as on the wing. He finished the season with 11 starts in 24 appearances, scoring one goal and registering two assists in all competitions.

 Amateur: King played in the USL Premier Development League with amateur side Fort Lauderdale Schulz Academy under the direction of Head Coach Josef Schulz.

 College: Darnell King played four seasons of college soccer at Florida Atlantic University. A star player for the Owls, he was ranked tenth best player in the entire Mid-American Conference by TopDrawerSoccer.com. King was the only player in the top ten not from defending national champions University of Akron.

 King was named to the third team NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region and collected second team all-conference honors during his time at FAU.
