After a standout college career, first in junior college then with the University of California, Irvine, where he was a teammate of Stars’ forward Amani Walker, attacking midfielder Miguel Ibarra has made Stars FC his first professional club. The Lancaster, Calif., native earned First Team All American honors after scoring nine goals and tallying eight assists for the Anteaters in 2011. The Portland Timbers selected Ibarra in the second round of this year’s Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
Ibarra made his Stars debut in the team's home opener on April 7 against the Carolina RailHawks. Ibarra had a standout game, taking a shot on goal and nearly setting up a goal twice in the 0-0 tie. He was named the Brit's Pub/IMSoccer News Minnesota Stars FC Man of the Match for his performance.
