2013: On March 25, 2013 Cody Laurendi returned to his home state, signing on with the Strikers as the club’s second goalkeeper. The 24 year-old will wear the number 1 shirt for the Strikers. Laurendi shared time with Strikers first-choise goalkeeper Matt Glaeser during the preseason, posting shutouts in each appearance. Professional: Laurendi comes to the Strikers following three seasons with NASL side Puerto Rico Islanders. As a backup to Richard Martin, Laurendi made two appearances for the Islanders in 2012, making nine saves and conceding two goals. Laurendi made his professional debut on July 15, 2010, recording a shutout in the 0-0 draw against FC Tampa Bay (now Tampa Bay Rowdies). College: Played college soccer at South Georgia College. Laurendi was named to the Georgia Junior College All-Tournament Team in his freshman season. Amateur: Laurendi played amateur soccer for R.R.F.C. Montegnée in the Belgian fourth division while attending the Heidelberg Academic and Soccer Academy (HASA) in Liege. High School: Laurendi attended Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida where he lettered as both a soccer player and football kicker. He was named MVP of the Brevard County All-Star game his senior year. |
