SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 21, 2012) – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1W-2T-0L) played a hard fought draw with the San Antonio Scorpions (0W-2T-1L) in front of 10,114 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday night.
The Strikers took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before the Scorpions drew even in second half stoppage time to earn a point at home. The Strikers now have five points on the season and extend their unbeaten streak to three games to start the 2012 season.
Fort Lauderdale got on the board first when Andy Herron fired a sharp angle shot which caught Pat Hannigan off guard. The Strikers took a 1-0 lead and Walter Restrepo earned the assist.
Strikers goalkeeper Matt Glaeser's shutout streak was broken in the 41st minute by Pablo Campos, who scored his first goal of the year. Glaeser sets the franchise mark at 221 shutout minutes to start a season.
The Strikers took a 2-1 lead early in the second half when Restrepo again found Andy Herron who notched his second goal of the match and third goal of the season.
The match made its way toward stoppage time when the Scorpions' Pablo Campos sent a long cross just out of reach of several Strikers and onto the foot of Hans Denissen, who found the back of the net to tie the match at 2-2.
The final minutes of the match were disrupted by several player arguments and a total of four red cards were shown. Two to San Antonio and two to Fort Lauderdale.
