The Carolina RailHawks host the world famous Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. The RailHawks won their first match of the tournament 6-0 against PSA Elite with Brian Shriver scoring a tournament-high four goals in the match.

With a victory the RailHawks will face another California-based side in Chivas USA or Ventura County Fusion in the fourth round of the cup.

 

 

Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Colorado Rapids

The Colorado Rapids travel to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium in the U.S. Open Cup Third Round. The Rowdies progressed to the third round of the tournament with a 3-0 victory against Jacksonville United of the NPSL. Mike Ambersley, Daniel Antoniuk, and Keith Savage all scored goals to lift the Rowdies past their lower-level opponents.

The winner of the match will travel to face the winner of Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City. Potential upsets in both matches would set up a rivalry clash between the two Florida-based teams in the fourth round of the tournament.

 

 

San Antonio Scorpions vs. Houston Dynamo

Expansion side San Antonio Scorpions host an all Texas affair against the Houston Dynamo at Heroes Stadium on Tuesday night in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Scorpions won their first ever Open Cup match against Laredo Heat in the second round, finishing 2-0 with goals from Pablo Campos and Kevin Harmse.

Waiting in the next round of the cup for the Scorpions is another potential Texas clash, this time against FC Dallas. The Scorpions could also face USL side Charlotte Eagles should they pull off an upset.

In the second round of the cup, Stars' forward Simone Bracalello and midfielder Miguel Ibarra each scored a goal in the 2-0 victory against the Des Moines Menace.

The winner of the match advances to the fourth round to face the winner of the match between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers face a tough test against the San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday night at Cagan Stadium in Stanford, California. The Strikers breezed through their first cup match with a dominant performance against Fresno Fuego at Lockhart Stadium. Strikers' forward Aly Hassan scored a hat-trick, Polo Morales scored twice, and Mark Anderson and Walter Restrepo scored once each in the 7-2 drubbing.

Should the Strikers overcome the Earthquakes, they face another difficult road test in the fourth round against either Real Salt Lake or the 2011 NASL Champions, Minnesota Stars FC.

The Silverbacks defeated Georgia Revolution in the second round of the cup by a score of 1-0, Raphael Cox scoring the game's only goal with a long-distance effort.

The winner of this match will face the winner of the match between the Portland Timbers and Cal FC in the fourth round of the cup.
