Match Preview: Puerto Rico vs. San Antonio
Islanders Host Scorpions on Saturday
Posted on Fri, Jun 15, 2012

It’s first place versus second as the Puerto Rico Islanders and the San Antonio Scorpions meet for the second time this season on Saturday, June 16th at the Bayamon Soccer Complex.

The hosts bounced back from an unexpected loss to the Carolina RailHawks to defeat the Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-0 last weekend. David Foley was guilty of missing a penalty, but provided an assist on Jay Needham’s winner before Jarad Van Schaik secured the win in the closing minutes of the match.

San Antonio is the most in-form team in the league at the moment, riding an eight-match unbeaten streak heading into this match. Last week the Scorpions dispatched the Atlanta Silverbacks 3-0 in San Antonio, NASL Offensive Player of the Week Pablo Campos scoring a brace to move the Scorpions up to second place in the table.

The Scorpions hosted the Islanders for the expansion side’s first-ever home match. The Islanders spoiled the party for San Antonio, running out 4-0 winners in the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
