Match Preview: Fort Lauderdale vs. San Antonio
Strikers Host Scoprions on Saturday
Posted on Fri, Jul 13, 2012

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers take on the San Antonio Scorpions, Saturday night at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is the first meeting between the two sides in Florida, and just the second ever fixture between the two.

The Strikers are coming into this match on the back of a disappointing 3-3 road draw with the Carolina RailHawks. Up 3-1 with just a few minutes left, the Strikers gave up two late goals, including one with the final kick of the ball, to leave Carolina with just a single point.

San Antonio come into this one having also dropped points. The Scorpions were dealt a 1-0 loss to the Puerto Rico Islanders on Wednesday, the Islanders having completely closed the gap on the Scorpions in the standings with the result.

The first-ever meeting between these two sides ended in a 2-2 draw in San Antonio. Hans Denissen popped up with a stoppage-time equalizer to secure a point for the home team.
