Campos Named NASL Offensive Player of the Week
Posted on Mon, Aug 20, 2012

MIAMI, Fla. (Aug 20, 2012) - San Antonio Scorpions forward Pablo Campos has been named North American Soccer League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Sunday night to help the Scorpions clinch a playoff spot.

Campos beat Tampa Bay defenders and goalkeeper Jeff Attinella in the 18th minute to give the Scorpions a 2-0 lead early in the first half and then converted a penalty kick in the 28th minute to bring his goal total to a league-best 18 this season.

"Beating the keeper on that first goal was a great individual move preceded by a great team effort,” said Scorpions Head Coach Tim Hankinson.

Campos is now just two goals away from matching last year’s NASL Golden Boot winner Etienne Barbara’s 20 goal haul from with six regular season games remaining.

This is the fifth time Campos, who was named the NASL Player of the Month for July, has won Offensive Player of the Week this season.
