Match Preview: Puerto Rico vs. Atlanta
Islanders Host Silverbacks on Saturday
Posted on Fri, Sep 21, 2012

Atlanta is coming off a midweek 3-1 win over the league-leading San Antonio Scorpions. Pedro Mendes and Willie Hunt were both on the scoresheet for the Silverbacks in Wednesday's win. Prior to that Atlanta recorded a 1-0 win over Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. That victory allowed the Silverbacks to climb off the bottom of the NASL table.

Puerto Rico fought hard to a credible 0-0 draw versus reigning MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy in CONCACAF Champions League action on Wednesday. With a win in this game, the Islanders would guarentee themselves of the 3rd seed in the NASL Playoffs. Puerto Rico will host an NASL Quarterfinal game, regardless of result on September 30th.

The Silverbacks have lost just once since the end of July, a stretch of eight league games. Matt Horth has tallied five goals in the Silverbacks last five games and Pedro Mendes has scored four times since signing with the club in mid-July.
