Information as of November 19, 2012
Etienne Barbara, Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS)
2011 NASL Golden Ball and Golden Boot winner Etienne Barbara has recently parted ways with Vancouver Whitecaps FC following an injury-plagued first season in Major League Soccer. The Whitecaps chose not to exercise the option in Barbara’s contract following a less-than-impressive year for the former Carolina RailHawks’ frontman. Barbara, 30, was limited to just 13 minutes of MLS action with the Canadian outfit after failing to fully recover from a sports hernia injury picked up in preseason.
Hassoun Camara, Montreal Impact (MLS)
Camara started and played the entire 90 minutes for the Impact in their 1-0 victory against Serie A side Fiorentina this past Thursday. The towering defender continued the fine form that saw him cement a spot in the Impact’s defense, after starting 18 matches, and scoring a single goal and a pair of assists in his first season in Major League Soccer.
Marcus Haber, Stevenage (ENG)
After a solid start to League One life with Stevenage, with a pair of goals in his first five matches, the former Vancouver Whitecaps striker failed to score in ten games since. Haber started and played 72 minutes at the weekend as Stevenage fell 4-1 to Sheffield United. The team occupy fifth in the standings.
Chris Klute, Colorado Rapids (MLS)
Chris Klute made his Colorado Rapids and MLS debut in the final match of the regular season, a 2-0 victory over Houston Dynamo. Klute, 22, started at left-back and provided the cross that led to the Rapids’ second goal. Klute signed with the Colorado Rapids on a year-long loan from the Atlanta Silverbacks on September 14.
Gerson Mayen, C.D. FAS (SLV)
Former Fort Lauderdale Strikers midfielder is currently suiting up for FAS of the Salvadoran Primera División. Mayen has started six matches for the Tigres in the Apertura 2012 competition, helping the team occupy the fourth and final playoff spot. He scored his only goal for the club so far in the third minute of a 4-1 win against league-leaders Isidro Metapan earlier in the month.
Pascal Millien, Sligo Rovers (IRE)
Haitian international and former Tampa Bay winger was crowned champion of the 2012 Airtricity League Premier Division with Sligo Rovers in his first season at the club. On Sunday Millien started and played 90 minutes for the Haiti national football team in a 2-0 win over Grenada in the Caribbean Cup.
Paulo Jr., Real Salt Lake (MLS)
The former Fort Lauderdale Strikers forward was withdrawn after 58 minutes in Real Salt Lake’s Western Conference Semifinals clash with Seattle Sounders FC on November 8. The Sounders won 1-0 on the night and on aggregate, spelling an end to Salt Lake’s season.
Eduardo Sebrango, Montreal Impact (MLS)
Sebrango, 39, has decided to hang up his boots following the Impact’s inaugural season in Major League Soccer. The Cuban-Canadian forward made seven appearances in his first MLS campaign—his ninth season wearing the iconic fleur-de-lis of the Montreal Impact.
Daniel Woolard, DC United (MLS)
Woolard was an unused substitute during D.C.’s 1-1 Eastern Conference Championship 2nd Leg draw with Houston Dynamo (Houston won 4-2 on aggregate). The former Carolina RailHawks defender started 20 games during the regular season in 2012, scoring one goal, and setting up two others, to help United reach the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
Tsuyoshi Yoshitake, FC Yokohama Hong Kong (HKG)
The former Tampa Bay Rowdies attacker has brought his fantastic NASL form with him to Hong Kong, with seven goals in his first eight Hong Kong First Division appearances. Wearing the captain’s armband for his new side, Yoshitake scored both goals in a crucial 2-1 win over Sun Pegasus Following the result, FC Yokohama Hong Kong moved up to sixth place in the ten-team table.
