Posted on Mon, Nov 19, 2012

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced the club has exercised club options for the 2013 NASL season for Walter Restrepo, Matt Glaeser, Scott Gordon and Hosman Ramos. Terms of the players’ contracts were not disclosed per team policy.

“We’ve built a solid core group of players within our organization,” said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore. “Being able to keep them together is key to reaching our goal of winning a championship in 2013.”

Walter Restrepo had an outstanding 2012 season, earning a unanimous selection to the NASL’s Best XI team. He also lead the league in assists, with eight, despite being sidelined for the season following a knee injury on Aug. 15. Matt Glaeser returns to the Strikers after a season which saw the goalkeeper set several franchise records. Glaeser became the team’s all-time leader in saves (191), wins (20), games played (55), and is tied for first in shutouts with 13.

Scott Gordon returned to the Strikers in 2012 after beginning the season in MLS with Chivas USA. Gordon played in 22 games for Fort Lauderdale, scoring one goal and an assist. Hosman Ramos completed his first season as a professional in 2012 with 12 appearances and seven starts for the Strikers.

The Strikers will announce further player signings as they are finalized throughout the offseason.

Fort Lauderdale is hosting their Winter Open Tryouts at Fort Lauderdale Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-2, 2012. More information is available online at http://www.strikers.com/tryouts.

Season Tickets for the 2013 season are now on sale online and by calling the Strikers ticket office at (954)606-0400. General admission seats for the entire season are just $112 when ordered before Jan. 1, 2013.
