In 2013, the Puerto Rico Islanders will be celebrating our 10th season. It was in 2004 that a group of visionaries, including the Mayor of Bayamon, Ramon Luis Rivera, Jr., decided to promote the sport of soccer and created the Puerto Rico Islanders. The club brought success, both in Puerto Rico as well as the United States and Canada. The Islanders have had a history of competing with top teams from Mexico and other countries with football tradition and have been recognized worldwide.

In the past two years our organization took on the task of improving in all aspects, impacting not only to sports but tourism and the development of football in our island, but to countless community initiatives and nonprofit organizations who do so much for our quality of life and the people they serve.

With the NASL implementing a two tournament system during for the 2013 season, the Club will take advantage of this new format and organize a massive 10th year anniversary, strengthen our bonds with our sponsors and, most importantly, our fans.

Once again, we thank our loyal sponsors over the years, our fans, in short, all the people of Puerto Rico who believed and supported this project since 2004 and, particularly, to all players, front office staff and technical staff who have shown such dedication and motivation to help the Puerto Rico Islanders to be always moving forward.

We are confident that beginning in the 2013 August tournament, the Puerto Rico Islanders, with more enthusiasm, can continue to contribute towards soccer in Puerto Rico, sports tourism and the economic development on the Island.

"We are very proud to be part of the NASL since its inception. Our goal at this moment is to organize properly in order to continue in August being part of the extraordinary expansion that our league is having throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. We also want to give the people of Puerto Rico the proper celebration for the 10 years of this great Club," said Team President Andrés Guillemard-Noble.
