Ralph's Mob Brings Passion to Supporting the Champions
Posted on Tue, Feb 19, 2013

Each Tuesday, Nasl.com will be doing a feature on one of the many supporters groups in the NASL.

Today the NASL features Ralph’s Mob, the supporters group of the reigning NASL Champion Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Their mission, according to the group’s official website, is to: “Become the largest and most effective supporter group outside of Major League Soccer, and to provide an unrivaled home field advantage and in-stadium experience at Rowdies matches.”

And with over 200 paying members and hundreds more casual members helping the Rowdies to an NASL Championship-winning season, it’s hard to argue Ralph’s Mob isn’t accomplishing their goal.

“We are definitely unique within the Tampa Bay pro sports scene,” maintains Charlie Cole, President of Ralph’s Mob. “[We] support the Tampa Bay Rowdies by being the 12th man at games.”

The group takes their name from Ralph Rowdie, the mustached soccer player depicted on the logo of the original Tampa Bay Rowdies. Much like the Fannies of the original Rowdies, the Mob dons the signature green and gold colors of the Rowdies, singing, chanting, and heckling the opposition for the duration of the match.

“There isn't another fan experience quite like Rowdies games when the Mob is at full power,” said Cole. “We work hard during games to support the team on the field.”

Off the field, the Mob are the Rowdies best ambassadors, promoting the beautiful game and their beloved side in Tampa Bay and beyond, helping to “increase interest in soccer and awareness of the sport around the Tampa Bay area.”

But the group doesn’t limit themselves to just the Tampa Bay area. Ralph’s Mob travels by the bus full for away matches at Lockhart Stadium against their oldest rivals—the Fort Lauderdale Strikers—transforming a section of their foe’s stadium into a vibrant sea of green and gold.

“We take great pride in outnumbering and out singing the Strikers home support in their own stadium,” boasts Cole. “Dominance on the field and in the stands over your arch rival, it doesn't get much better than that!”
