The San Antonio Scorpions and Atlanta Silverbacks are level at 2-2 at halftime at Toyota Park.
In a high-scoring and hotly contested first half of play, the Scorpions finally recorded their first goal of the season in the 20th minute to equalize a fifth minute Silverbacks opener.
Richie Menjivar put the visitors in front early on, but then home forward Hans Denissen connected on a perfectly placed cross from Javier Saavedra, ending the three-game scoring drought.
The injured Saavedra was then immediately taken out of the game after his assist, to be replaced by Pat Phelan.
Only eight minutes later, Ramirez created a second goal for the Scorpions when he crossed a nicely placed ball into the center of the field. Denissen received the service and sent a touch pass to Edin Husic, who then turned around and sent a powerful shot into the goal from 18 yards out.
Atlanta drew level in the 30th minute, when the Pedro Mendez took advantage of a defensive lapse and dribbled through the entire Scorpions back line and buried a shot in the back of the net.
“Hans Denisson had a great goal and the way Husic took his, its great to see out offense come to light but we’ve got to be more responsible defensively,” said Scorpions coach Tim Hankinson. “We should be able to create a better balance in the second half.”
