The RailHawks grabbed another late draw on the road last week against FC Edmonton. Cesar Elizondo snagged a goal in the 88th minute to draw the score level at 1-1, after receiving a well-timed pass from Tiyi Shipalane. Michael Cox scored for the Eddies in the 73rd minute.
The RailHawks look ahead to likely their biggest matches of the year in the coming weeks, beginning with a clash against 3rd place NASL opponents Minnesota United FC at WakeMed Soccer Park this Saturday. To purchase tickets to the match click here.
Following the match against Minnesota United FC, the RailHawks will take on MLS titans Real Salt Lake in the quarterfinals of the US Open Cup on Wednesday, June 26th. The RailHawks, who are the only remaining NASL club in the Open Cup, will host the semifinal match, pending a win in Salt Lake City.

The RailHawks also announced their 2nd annual Pregame Pig Pickin’ Festival, which features all you can eat BBQ, beer, and live music from the Annuals before the June 29th match against NASL rivals the Atlanta Silverbacks. With the end of the spring season looming, 2nd place Carolina RailHawks could secure the spring season title with a win over Minnesota and rivals Atlanta. Hanson Boakai of FC Edmonton became the youngest player to ever play in an NASL match last weekend. Boakai is 16 years old.
In their return to the pitch, the New York Cosmos won their first match since 1984 6-0 against Newtown Pride FC.
Elsewhere in the NASL, the Atlanta Silverbacks defeated the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 1-0 with a late goal last weekend. The Tampa Bay Rowdies tipped the scales in the 88th minute to gain a 2-1 victory over the San Antonio Scorpions as well. Read the recaps here.
