Goals from forwards Oliver, Carl Haworth and midfielder Pierre-Rudolph Mayard led Ottawa Fury FC to a 3-0 victory over the host Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday evening at Silverbacks Park.
The game started quickly with Mayard scoring for Ottawa in just the third minute after an excellent passing play finished by a tap to put the ball in the back of the net.
After dominating posession throughout the first half Ottawa advanced their lead in the 38th minute with a finish by Brazilian Oliver.
The teams came out in the second half with atlanta looking to come back strong. Both teams had their chances but in the 83rd minute Haworth sealed the deal for Ottawa by scoring a header off of an Oliver cross to make it 3-0. This win leaves Ottawa still in the race for The Championship.
"It's important to keep our dream alive and our dream is to make the playoffs," said Fury coach, Marc Dos Santos. "It's an ambitious one. It's one that seems a little bit impossible, but we're fighting a game at a time. We have a team with a lot of character and passion and I think our dream is possible."
