Ottawa Fury FC announced Monday that they have picked up the contract options of Canadians Carl Haworth and Mauro Eustaquio.
"Carl and Mauro will return in 2015 as better players from their experience in 2014," said Fury FC head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Both players are dynamic and bring great depth to our squad. They played keys roles for our club in 2014 and are always ready when called upon."
Haworth, 25, was a regular in attack during Ottawa’s inaugural NASL campaign logging 1530 minutes in 24 appearances. After a standout season with Ottawa in the PDL in 2013, Haworth became the club’s first-ever Canadian signing. He would also record another first for the club by netting the first-ever Fury FC goal at TD Place that also happened to be his first goal as a pro. The Barrie, ON native finished the season with a pair of goals.
Eustaquio, 21, featured in Ottawa’s Starting XI on four occasions in 2014 - three times replacing captain Richie Ryan - and made the most of his minutes earned by showcasing his vision and composure in central midfield. In all, the Portuguese-born midfielder made 8 appearances playing 301 minutes highlighting the bright future and depth of Ottawa’s midfield.
