RECAP | United 3, Indy 1

Minnesota United got its second win in a row Saturday night against Indy Eleven by a score of 3-1. Kalif Alhassan, Justin Davis, and Juliano Vicentini all ended up on the scoresheet for United.

Despite the wet conditions, United was able to put up an impressive display on both ends of the pitch in the first half. Though there were lots of chances created by Indy's Charlie Rugg, Minnesota was able to weather the storm and create several key chances of its own. United opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after midfielder Jamie Watson was taken down outside the Indy penalty area. Kalif Alhassan stepped up for the Loons and placed a perfect curling shot into the top right corner to give Minnesota the 1-0 lead.

Minnesota almost doubled its lead a little over ten minutes later. Forward Pablo Campos was open on the right side of the penalty box, and went to ground as a defender closed in on him. Campos pleaded for a penalty but the referee instead carded Campos for embellishment.

A late first half injury forced Minnesota to bring in J.C. Banks at halftime for Jamie Watson, who injured his knee falling on the running track.

Indy leveled the score quickly into the second half. Dylan Mares took a corner in the 49th minute that found Sergio Peña running into the box. Peña turned the ball to the far post, beating United goalkeeper Sammy Ndjock to make it 1-1.

United reclaimed the lead a few minutes later, taking advantage of a lapse in Indy Eleven's defense. Campos found open space and took a shot on goal, forcing Indy goalkeeper Keith Cardona into a diving save. The ball bounced off the gloves of Cardona, allowing United defender Justin Davis to run in and knock home the rebound.

Juliano Vicentini was able to put the game away for Minnesota in the 83rd minute. Vicentini made a run toward goal, laying the ball off to second half substitution Christian Ramirez. Ramirez found Vicentini with a through ball, allowing the midfielder an open shot that he tapped home to make it 3-1.

After two straight sellouts, Minnesota returns home on Saturday, May 23, to host Jacksonville Armada FC for the first time ever at 8 p.m. ET.
