The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced Günter Kronsteiner as the club’s head coach. Kronsteiner will join the team in time for Wednesday’s international friendly versus Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors at Lockhart Stadium.

Kronsteiner will be available following Wednesday’s 8:00 p.m. Strikers versus Boca Juniors match Lockhart Stadium.  A credential specific to the game will be required to attend (regular-season Strikers credentials will not grant access).

“We are thrilled that Günter is returning,” said Strikers Managing Partner Ricardo Geromel.  “We remain convinced that the team possesses tremendous potential.  Under Günter’s leadership, we expect to realize this potential.”

Kronsteiner guided Fort Lauderdale to the North American Soccer League Championship Final in 2014.  He coached the team for the entire 2014 season and the 14 games of the 2013 Fall Season.

“I am excited to come back to ‘my’ club,” said Kronsteiner. “I am especially eager to reconnect with the fans with whom I have a special relationship. I look forward to getting to know the 2015 Strikers players and figuring out how to climb the standings as fast as possible.”

Iván Guerrero, a third-year Strikers’ defender who served as interim coach for the Strikers’ 3-2 victory against Minnesota United FC in the Spring Season finale on June 13, will serve as an assistant to Kronsteiner for the remainder of the season. He will also remain on the Strikers’ player roster.

Raoul Voss, who served as Kronsteiner’s assistant in 2013-14, was also named an assistant coach. The native of Frankfurt, Germany will rejoin the team in time for Wednesday’s match.
