PREVIEW | Strikers Aim To Stay Unbeaten With Coach Kronsteiner At The Helm

Fort Lauderdale has picked up two draws under Günter Kronsteiner, while Atlanta is looking for back-to-back wins

Following a draw against FC Edmonton in the Fall Season home opener last week, the Strikers will take on the Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday, July 18, at Lockhart Stadium in search of their first victory of the fall.

Fort Lauderdale would get the match started against the Eddies with a goal midway through the second half on a penalty kick from Walter Ramirez. The goal led the Honduran midfield to be named to the NASL Team of The Week. Edmonton would answer back late in the game when a long-range shot by Sadi Jalali cannoned off the bottom left post and rebounded off goalkeeper Josh Ford and into the net to secure a point for the away side.

The Strikers (0W-2D-0L, 2 points) will look to add to their unbeaten streak in the Fall Season under recently appointed head coach Günter Kronsteiner by clinching the full three points at home against the Silverbacks (1-0-1, 3 on Saturday The team then hits the road for three consecutive away fixtures.

The last meeting against the Silverbacks ended in a scoreless draw in Fort Lauderdale on May 2. The Strikers are currently unbeaten in their last six matches against Atlanta and have outscored the Silverbacks 14-5 over the streak since June 15, 2013.

The Silverbacks travel to Fort Lauderdale on a positive note after defeating Jacksonville Armada FC at home and securing a vital three points to start off their Fall Season’s home campaign. Atlanta lost their Fall Season opener after a 2-1 away loss to the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
