Fresh off a 3-1 victory over Sunshine State rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies in St. Petersburg, Fla., the Fort Lauderdale Strikers head to New York to take on another longtime rival – the New York Cosmos.

The Brazilian trio of PC, Bruno Nunes, and Stefano Pinho each found the back of the net as the Strikers picked up a crucial three points against the Rowdies last Saturday. The win was the Strikers’ first of the Fall Season and extends Fort Lauderdale’s unbeaten streak to five matches.

Sunday’s opponents, the Cosmos, went undefeated as they raced to a Spring Season title. The side is currently winless in three Fall Season matches and sits at the bottom of the standings.

Since the return of the Cosmos in 2013, the Strikers are winless against their historic rivals in the NASL Modern Era. New York has won five of the six meetings between the clubs and has shut out Fort Lauderdale in four matches. Most recently, the Cosmos defeated the Strikers by a score of 1-0 in the opening match of the 2015 NASL Spring Season in front of a record crowd of 11,691 fans at Lockhart Stadium.

Sunday’s match will be the debut of Strikers Fútbol Live on SFL-TV. Beginning with Sunday’s match, all 16 remaining Strikers games will be broadcast live on the South Florida-based network.
