NASL Staff | Sep 14, 2015

The New York Cosmos and Minnesota United gained grown on Fall Season leaders Ottawa Fury FC with vital wins. FC Edmonton’s victory closed the gap towards achieving a spot in The Championship, the NASL’s four-team postseason tournament. Here’s what coaches and players had to say after the results in Week 10 of the Fall Season:

Ottawa Fury FC head coach Marc Dos Santos on the draw with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers

“Overall I think the tie is fair. It was a game of moments from both teams. I think overall it wasn’t the result we wanted, because we wanted to win, but it was a fair result. It was a fair tie.”

Dos Santos on the rematch with the Strikers this coming weekend

“There are two teams that are going to want to make the playoffs and are going to fight for it, so you can expect that it is going to be a tough and very physical game like today.”

New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese on the win over Jacksonville Armada FC

“I have to be honest: I felt we were going to find a way to win the game. The important thing was for us to be calm, to be solid defensively, and at some point the game was going to give us something to be able to win. The special moment was given by Raúl.”

Cosmos forward Raúl on his game-winning goal

“The assist was amazing. It was not an easy ball for [Walter] Restrepo to pull back, and in this moment I tried to find the space to shoot. In the first moment I didn’t see any, and after a fake I could find the space to score this goal.

"I think it’s very important and I’m very happy for me, but I’m more happy for the team. It’s the most important that we win the game.”

Minnesota United head coach Manny Lagos on the win over the Carolina RailHawks

"Huge result for us tonight. We came out sluggish in the first half. We had some chances, but Carolina did a great job disrupting our play. We attacked well in the second half and created chances by getting more men in the box and really going all out. Great result for the guys to see the game out."

FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller on the win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies

“I’m very, very pleased with the attitude of the players in terms of how we went about our work. Overall, it was a positive team performance here today.”

Tampa Bay Rowdies head coach Stuart Campbell on what the Rowdies need to improve on after the loss against the Eddies

“We turned down too many shots. That’s something we’re going to work on this week.”
