Miami FC announced its first three players as well as its inaugural kits on Thursday.
The team, sponsored by Macron Technical Sportswear, will utilize three options in 2016 and has revealed its first three signed players: Dane Richards, Jaime Chavez, and Wilson Palacios.
The new players set the tone of talent and diversity to be expected in the next couple of months as the official roster continues to come together.
“We are proud to have these three players on board who have so much skill and talent to offer on the field,” Miami FC head coach Alessandro Nesta said. “I’m looking forward to working with them as we kickoff the season.”
Jaime Chavez, 28, holds a successful youth club record playing on winning teams for multiple national cups and was last with the NASL’s Atlanta Silverbacks.
He began in the USL’s Premier Development League with the Hollywood Hitmen and was named the leading scorer in the team’s inaugural season and recently helped amateur soccer club Cal FC reach the U.S. Open Cup.
Dane Richards, 31, is a Jamaican international and most recently saw action with Indy Eleven, while adding international experience. Richards made 45 appearances for the Jamaican national team and helped the Reggae Boyz to back-to-back Caribbean Championship titles in 2008 and 2010, scoring three goals and winning the tournament’s golden boot in 2010.
Wilson Palacios, 31, brings a wealth of experience, having played in the English Premier League as well as the Honduran national team.
He has played 82 matches with the national side and is also one of the most well-known Honduran international players to ever wear Los Catrachos' jersey. Palacios played in two consecutive FIFA World Cups, the 2010 tournament in South Africa and the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil. Palacios has also contributed his talents to various English Premier League clubs including Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspurs, and Wigan Athletic, who know play in League One.
“The team is quickly coming together and it’s exciting to see it grow into what we envisioned it to be,” Miami FC co-owner Riccardo Silva said.
For the jerseys, Macron catered a unique collection that combines quality fabrics and materials with the latest in sports apparel technological defined by the unmistakable Italian style and tailor made detailing that characterize Macron uniforms.
“It’s taken a lot of work, but in order to be the best you have to pick the best. I want to thank Macron for keeping our players and city as a priority in the design,” Silva said.
The home jersey presents the classic nautical aqua with a vibrant orange color synonymous with the city of Miami, both on the front and back of the jersey with orange remaining dominant across the V-neck line and sleeves. The collar is designed for maximum player comfort and has an extended V design created to excrete body heat.
Macron has developed a special fabric called softlock with flank micromesh inserts to enhance breathability under the hot Miami sun. The jersey has the team crest on the heart and the word Miami embroidered on the back neck. Special tone-on-tone sublimated stripes enhance the design feature around the body of the jersey to make the perfect fusion of fashion and technology.
The away jersey showcases white, with same technical and stylish details of the home jersey. Last but not least, the third jersey is a deep electric blue inspired by the unforgettable Miami FC crest along with nautical aqua sky inserts and the same details of the two items above.
