Rayo OKC added former NASL Champion Billy Forbes to its inaugural roster, the club announced Thursday.

Forbes is an attacking midfielder who comes to Oklahoma City after spending the past two seasons with the San Antonio Scorpions.

In his rookie season, Forbes led the NASL in assists with seven on the year. In his first two seasons combined, Forbes had more assists than any other player in the league.

“We are getting one of the best attacking players in the NASL with Billy Forbes,” head coach Alen Marcina said. “I had the fortune to coach him in his first two seasons as a professional down in San Antonio, and it’s a blessing to be able to bring him to Oklahoma City.”

The 25-year-old Turks and Caicos Islands native also scored 10 goals in the past two seasons combined and was a key player on the Scorpions’ 2014 NASL Championship team.

The 5-foot-10 midfielder also plays on the Turks and Caicos Islands national team. He saw action in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Tournament, where he scored his first international goal.

Before becoming a professional, Forbes played collegiately at Lubbock Christian University. He became the university’s first All-American in soccer.

“Billy, a fan favorite, has the tools to progress his career in some of the best leagues in the world,” Marcina said. “Our goal is to put a product on the field that will make our fans and our community proud, and Billy will help us do that.”
