Miami FC announced the signing of Cuban midfielder Ariel Martinez Saturday. Martinez marks the 10th midfielder on the roster.

“Martinez’s quick, but simple style paired with his invaluable experiences abroad makes him an excellent addition to round out our roster,” Miami FC coach Alessandro Nesta said. “Now that our squad is almost complete, we can focus our efforts into developing as a team and creating an unrivaled dynamic.”

The talented 29-year-old brings an internationally recognized reputation. During his time with the Cuban national team, Martinez netted 34 goals and collected 58 caps. Not to mention, he delivered some technically sound performances including his hat trick in a 4-0 win over Belize in the 2013 Gold Cup.

After the group stages of last year’s Gold Cup, Martinez made the move to the United Soccer League’s Charleston Battery. After a year with the Battery, Martinez has now joined Nesta and Miami FC.

Martinez also featured in the historic friendly against the New York Cosmos, which the NASL side won, 4-1. He spent the majority of his career playing for his hometown soccer club, FC Sancti Spíritus.
