Rayo OKC notched its first win in club history, while the Carolina RailHawks their fourth in a row to remain perfect in the Spring Season thus far.
Here’s what coaches and players had to say about Week 4 of the Spring Season:
Miami FC coach Alessandro Nesta on falling to fellow expansion side Rayo OKC
“I think we played a good game. We made a couple of mistakes that cost us the match and the two early goals definitely changed the game.”
Carolina RailHawks coach Colin Clarke on the performance against the Tampa Bay Rowdies
“We got three goals from three different players all scoring their first goal of the season. From back to front, this team is playing like a unit. To go on the road and win is not easy. I am super proud of this entire team and this entire organization.”
Carolina midfielder Austin da Luz on another win to start the season
“Feels great to be able to bring another three points back to North Carolina. Great to see [Shriver] get a goal, everyone is doing their part for the team.”
Tampa Bay coach Stuart Campbell on defensive mistakes against Carolina
"I'm very disappointed with the goals we conceded. Starting with the first one, we didn't apply enough pressure further up the field, which I asked for. They cut through us and we weren't marking tight enough in the area. There could have been two or three of them to tap it in."
Tampa Bay defender Tamika Mkandawire on the loss
"It's never good to lose. I thought we let ourselves down. We've got to be better in both boxes and make the most of our opportunities in front of goal. [The] goals they had tonight, we gave them. We've got to clean it up and tighten up. For me, I think the penalty was very, very harsh. We controlled the play and we're disappointed not to make more of the opportunities we created."
Fort Lauderdale Strikers coach Caio Zanardi on continuing to battle after going a man down against Jacksonville Armada FC
“We had a particularly difficult first half. After the red card, the match became more complicated, but we managed to keep our tactical discipline, maintain focus to find the equalizer. It was a good sign of improvement, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Jacksonville Armada FC coach Tony Meola on letting lead slip on the road
“On the road and bringing home a point with the way we played in the last 20 minutes, it’s not the best, but it’s not the worst either. We’ve got some things to correct.”
Minnesota United coach Carl Craig on the win over the New York Cosmos, despite being a man down
"We were just going into the game prepared to do what we wanted to do. It's not so much who we're playing against, but the fact that we go down to 10 men against a quality side like them and get the goal. It's important that in every game you play, you got to go out and believe you can win."
New York Cosmos coach Giovanni Savarese on back-to-back losses
“Sometimes matches do not go the way you expect, and these past matches didn’t go our way, but I think we can learn from them and go on. The important part is that we did a lot of very good things. We had a fantastic match, but unfortunately we were not able to capitalize and put the ball in the back of the net.”
FC Edmonton coach Colin Miller on the first win of the year
"I think it was a critical win because both sides were under pressure heading into this match. I'm delighted for the players, they were committed and took the chances when it came to them, so we will take the win and build on it."
Ottawa Fury FC coach Paul Dalglish on needing goals after a shutout loss in the Canadian Derby
"I thought the first half was fine, we limited them to very few opportunities and again we were unable to take advantage of our chances. We had the chance to hurt them in first half and we never did and if you don't score goals it's very hard to win games and we are not scoring at the moment. We will need to work on our concentration level and decision making."
