Puerto Rico Football Club announced Thursday that Ramon Martin del Campo will join the club for this upcoming season on loan from Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa.

Ramon can play as a center half, a right back, or as a holding midfield player. He was seen by the Puerto Rico coaching staff last November and expressed a desire to join the club back then. The clubs subsequently worked on a loan agreement that brings Del Campo to the club in time for their preseason training.

Born in Hermosillo, Mexico, he was brought up in San Diego; and joined the LA Galaxy in 2012 as an 18-year-old.

Ramon was picked up by Saprissa after being named to the All Star Development League team in 2014 while playing for the San Jose Earthquakes U 23 team.  During that season del Campo was selected for the U.S. nen’s U-23 team, and has time on his side to gain further national honors.  At 22, he has already experienced soccer at some top-class clubs, and will continue to improve over time. He is expected to play a major role in this inaugural season for Puerto Rico FC.

Puerto Rico Football Club Technical Director Neil Silliett said “We look forward to welcoming Ramon to our club, and know that he can help us in several areas on the field, and with his winning attitude and his leadership capabilities, he will make a great addition to our Puerto Rico FC team.”
