Jacksonville Armada FC and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers were both looking for momentum-shifters going into Fall Season action over the weekend, and that is exactly what they got. Both clubs notched key road wins to build up some confidence heading into Wednesday night’s clash. Jacksonville (2W-2D-5L, 8 points) snapped a 25-game winless road streak with a 2-1 victory against Ottawa Fury FC last Saturday. Alhassane Keita scored both goals in a rain-soaked affair and has now scored three times in his last three appearances.
Fort Lauderdale (2-1-5, 7) defeated Miami FC, 2-0, after a three-hour weather delay. Paulo Junior opened the scoring before former Juventus forward and NASL debutant Amauri marked his first game in a Strikers shirt with a late goal. Jacksonville is still seeking its first win against the Strikers. In the Spring Season, the clubs played to a 1-1 draw, while in the last meeting, Fort Lauderdale won, 1-0. The first two 2016 matchups took place at Lockhart Stadium in South Florida.
