Rayo OKC is coming off a road swing against two of the league’s top teams – the New York Cosmos and Indy Eleven – with the side earning one point. Last Saturday, the club lost, 2-1, to the Eleven after a 1-1 draw that snapped the Cosmos’ record home winning streak. Rayo OKC (3W-4D-2L, 13 points) heads back to Miller Stadium, where the side has a six-game unbeaten streak, in Gerard Nus’ home coaching debut. Defender Futty Danso has been particularly influential at both ends of the field. Despite the loss to Indy, Danso scored and made several crucial blocks as Rayo OKC nearly took another point on the road. The club will also carry confidence into the game after defeating Miami FC, 3-2, in the Spring Season.
Miami’s recent unbeaten surge was ended last Saturday in a 2-0 loss to the club’s South Florida rivals, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The meeting with Rayo OKC this weekend represents a chance to pass them in the Fall Season Standings and a win at Miller Stadium would move Miami (3-2-2, 11) into fifth place. Rayo OKC, with a win, can potentially move up to fourth if it can secure all three points.
