The Puerto Rican trio of Héctor Ramos, Jackie Marrero, and Jorge Rivera will return for Puerto Rico FC’s 2017 campaign and will look to leave their mark on the island’s football history.
Ramos was the team’s leading goalscorer with eight while adding four assists. During the Luis Villarejo Cup he added four more goals to elevate his 2016 total to 12. The 26-year-old also scored the club’s first goal in team history and was named to the NASL’s Team of the Week four times, He is also the top scorer for the Puerto Rican national team.
Marrero is a winger who brought speed and excitement to Puerto Rico FC’s attack in the almost 900 minutes he spent on the field. The 23-year-old scored his first professional goal against Jacksonville Armada FC at home on September 17. The spectacular goal earned him Play of the Week and Team of the Week honors. He also took the free kick that resulted in a Miami FC own goal that gave Puerto Rico FC its first road win of the season.
Young national team stalwart Jorge Rivera showed why he is the Island’s top prospect at 20 years old. He scored his first two professional goals during the Cup and started four games during the NASL regular season. More will be expected of Jorge as he begins his second year as a pro.
