The New York Cosmos announced today the signing of center forward, Pablo Vranjicán, for the remainder of the 2017 season. The deal is pending receipt of his U.S. visa and International Transfer Certificate.

“We welcome Pablo to the organization,” Cosmos coach Giovanni Savarese said. “We are happy to add him to our roster, as he will bring versatility and experience to the team.”

Vranjicán, 31, joins the Cosmos after appearing in the historic exhibition match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal FC last month.

The Argentine forward began his career at Newell's Old Boys, playing for both the youth and senior teams before plying his trade in Chile's top division. Following a productive loan spell at C.S.D. Rangers, Vranjicán left his mark at Universidad Católica, where he made seven appearances in the team's 2010 Copa Libertadores campaign, helping Los Cruzados win their 10th title in the Primera División that year.

Vranjicán also featured for Chilean side Santiago Morning, where he scored three goals in four games in the 2012 Copa Chile. After playing the 2013-14 season for former Greece side, AEK Kouklia FC and Chile’s Deportes La Serena, the forward continued his success, scoring 15 goals in 27 games in league play for Curicó Unido. A key player for Los Albirrojos in the 2015 Copa Chile, Vranjicán started five out of six group stage games, scoring four of his team's nine goals.

Vranjicán last played for five-time Liga Super winners Pahang FA in the Malaysian Super League, tallying four goals in nine appearances.
