North Carolina FC has added another dangerous attacking option to its roster for the 2017 NASL Fall Season with the addition of Renan Gorne after coming to terms on a loan agreement with Brazilian Série A side Botafogo. Per club policy, further details on the acquisition were not released.
“We had an opportunity to get a very good striker," North Carolina coach Colin Clarke said. "He’s young with good experience. He played in the top league in Brazil and had a very successful career scoring goals. He’s someone that wanted to be here and experience our league and culture and we feel that he will come in and score a lot of goals for us this second part of the season.”
The 21-year old forward was a star for Botafogo’s U-20 side last season. He netted 31 goals with the U-20 team and earned a call up to the senior team where he made one appearance. The talented goalscorer will join a growing attacking unit, which will be in search of more goals during North Carolina FC’s Fall Season.
“I’m really happy to be a part of North Carolina FC," Gorne said. "It’s a pleasure to wear this jersey. We have a great chance here to reach the playoffs. I can’t wait to get on the field and help the team earn results.”
